COOL man!!! I had met Ray Park on last saturday(11.11.06) !!! he is a very very very friendly guy !!!!!!! he had sign all the toys we bring !!! and take a picture with US !!!! when I saw him , I just was SHOCK !!! I cant belive infornt of me is DARTH MAUL RAY PARK !!!!!!!

later 4pm will go meet RAY PARK AGAIN !!!!!

Darth Maul in Ipoh for wushu stint

IPOH: Star Wars actor Raymond Park, the man who hunted down the Jedi as Sith Lord Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace, is in town.

The Scottish stuntman, producer and martial arts exponent arrived in Malaysia a week ago to hone his wushu skills here and in Kuala Lumpur.

Park, 32, who first took up Shaolin kung fu at the age of seven, said he also wanted to “see old friends” and explore the possibility of shooting a movie set in Malaysia.

“I first came to Malaysia to train in wushu when I was a boy, so Malaysia is like a second home to me. This is my eighth visit,” he told reporters at the Ipoh Chinese Chin Woo Athletic Association headquarters yesterday.

“If I had a choice, I would have the film shot here. I could then work and practise wushu at the same time.”

Park said the script for his proposed film, tentatively named Battle City Seven, was still being written.

The story involves his character getting “manipulated” into joining an urban treasure hunt where international teams competed for a grand prize.

“It’s a traditional story but I want to focus on the action. It could take a year or two because it depends on the other producers,” he said.

“We want to come up with stuff you’ve never seen before. This time I want to be the good guy!”

Park is better known for his villain roles – as Darth Maul, the Toad in X-Men (2000) and the Headless Horseman in Sleepy Hollow (1999).

He added that he was confident that shooting on the delayed Iron Fist movie would begin next year.

Park will act as Danny Rand, one of the characters developed by Marvel Comics, the same company which created Spider-Man, Daredevil, The Hulk and Fantastic Four.

Speaking of his training here, the former international wushu champion said he enjoyed learning new techniques like Shi Liu Quan (Four Six Fist) under Master Chan Choy Yin.

“I got into martial arts after my father was inspired by Bruce Lee films. He used to do flying kicks over chairs and we loved to watch kung fu movies,” he said.

“Acting is a passion for me. I got into martial arts because I wanted to get into the movies.”

Ipoh Chinese Chin Woo Athletic Association deputy president Datuk Ooi Foh Sing said he was proud that a wushu exponent like Park could become an international film star.

“It shows how wushu can shape the character, skills and values of an individual, and how it can teach the younger generation to conduct themselves,” he said.

Ooi added that fans could drop by to meet Park this Sunday at 11am at the association headquarters where he will be conducting a training session with youth members.

雷蒙柏怡保學拳

（怡保9日訊）曾在星球大戰前傳之魅影危機擔演奸角達斯·摩爾（DARTH MAUL）的好萊塢動作演員雷蒙柏（RAYMOND PAR），前來怡保“耀武揚威”！？
非也！非也！他是前來馬來西亞度假，順道以英國精武體育會的會員身份，和馬來西亞精武體育會會員進行交流，提升本身的武術造詣。

現年32歲，為人友善、謙虛及健談的雷蒙柏，今午在怡保精武體育會署理會長拿督黃保生的安排下，召開記者會。

已有25年武術根基的雷蒙柏受訪說，這次到來除了在武術上交流外，也順道為其製作及演出的新片“BETTER CITY SEVEN”看景。

為新片看景

他說，該片打算在大馬或泰國取景，目前還在看景階段，有關劇本也正在寫著，而他也心屬大馬這個地方，並希望能在此拍攝，他也指這次在戲中，他會演好人。

他表示，對武術的熱愛是從小受到父親的影響，因此接受中華文化及觀看東方功夫片成長。

“父親非常喜歡東方文化及武術，更欣賞已故功夫巨星李小龍，我是觀賞功夫片長大的。”

“我從7歲開始加入英國精武體育會，教練是來自大馬的李育文，15歲曾隨該會到來大馬3個月作交流，也曾在歐州獲得多屆武術比賽的冠軍。”

他說，會繼續修練武術，在這次的怡保之行，他將向怡保精武體育會教練陳財英（54歲）學習“四六拳”。

第1次到來怡保的他表示，很喜歡怡保，因這里的人都很熱情及友善，有機會的話，他還會到來怡保，他將在怡保逗留1周，並于下星期三返回美國。

演出星球大戰前傳
首次擔正很興奮

“能參與星球大戰前傳之魅影危機的演出，令我感到興奮及高興！”

雷蒙柏指出，星球大戰前傳之魅影危機是他第1次擔正演出的影片，之前他只是擔任電影里的特技人員。

他說，當時星球大戰導演佐治盧卡斯正物色1位演懂武術的演員演出戲里奸角達斯·摩爾（DARTH MAUL），當時該片的1名特技人認識他，並向導演推荐。

“我在面試時向導演展示了武術，他很喜歡並表示要我演出該片的達斯·摩爾（DARTH MAUL）一角，該戲是在1997年拍攝，並在1999年上映。”

此外，怡保精武體育會署理會長拿督黃保生表示，能得到1位國際明星到來拜訪，感到非常榮幸，他對于精武的武術能發揚到國際影片上，感到光榮。

他透露，在這個星期日（12日），早上11時，雷蒙柏會到來怡保精武體育會與學習武術的小朋友拍照與交流，有興趣的人士也可前來。
